My name is GERARD, I work for a company named WET INK COMICS. I first started drawing at the age of 5 (a gift from my mother). The common super heroes (Batman, Spiderman, Superman) were what I enjoyed most. The graffiti style began at the age of 12. It was the south Bronx where you would find me tagging on walls all over, and hitting the 2 and 5 subway line. I made sure to get my artwork into any Graffiti black book I could, I also had my own black books. As I watched other artists such as Jive and Tyke, take their graffiti from the black books to the trains and walls, I saw no limit to what artists could do. This gave me great inspiration, and sparked the creator inside of me.
I then began working with my cousin Victor Miller, whose art work was phenomenal. Developing and improving my Anime style was my focus from that point on. At the same time, my other cousin Victor Morales, owned his own silk screening and airbrushing business. He taught me the skills of silk screening, airbrushing, and the understandings of running a business.
While attending college in Tyler Texas, I connected with two other students who had the same vision towards creating a comic book company. We called it Millennium Comics, our first book was named Berel Norris. Millennium Comics slowly died out once I left school. But all and all, I stayed determined, and my vision stayed strong.
1993 I attended school in Purchase New York. There I presented my comic strip Clint & Dug for the monthly school paper.
In 1996 I had contacted an independent comic book company - FANTACO. I was trying to get a book deal for my title Berrel Norris. I sent them the 3 book series of Berrel Norris, only issues 1, 2, and the first 10 pages of issue 3 were sent. This was done, to see if there curiosity would lead them to ask for the remainder of issue 3. The deal was a go; FANTACO then put Berrel Norris in the next 2 issues of Preview and Advance Comics (February and April issues). These were the two main books, that comic stores would order from to receive product. Unfortunately, after 700 Berrel Norris books were ordered FANTACO went out of business. This was very discouraging and deterred me from drawing. Missing WET INK COMICS; I started drawing again in 2004.
